My name is Sofia Collin, and I wish to become California's 37th District Assembly Member, representing parts of Santa Barbara county and Ventura county.
I am a graduate of Santa Barbara City College, U.C. Berkeley, and Claremont Graduate University. I have dedicated my education and work to the study of ethics, in order to promote a more peaceful, prosperous, society.
If elected, I would focus on developing programs to help homeless community members find employment, create avenues to support better relationships between law enforcement and citizens, and devise and implement ways to encourage the flourishing of art and music in our community to both enrich our everyday experiences and benefit our local businesses.
At heart, I am interested in balancing government’s current laws—which discourage action with punishment—by writing law that encourages positive action through independence and recognition. Thus, I have cultivated the concept of Unbounded Law— an approach to law-making that seeks to empower citizens, not the government.
We do not simply need just action, or just thinking, but we need to find justice in their partnership— not letting one justify the other. All of my efforts seek to not only support peace and justice in our community— but also happiness— which is foundational to a prosperous society.
